WELCOME! WE are very excited that you will be attending the ERAU SMART@ER Educator’s Conference scheduled for December 6-7.

SCHED is our official conference app that will provide up to date information pertaining to our conference. It is highly recommended that you utilize this app before, during and after the conference. Make sure to check back often as session times and topics are updated frequently.

We strongly encourage you to sign up for this app and update your profile, as this is a terrific way for you to stay in contact and network with others associated with our department. So please take a moment and adjust your profile. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you are having difficulties with using SCHED.

Hotel Accommodations:
Gaetz Aerospace Institute will pre-pay for hotel accommodations for attendees that live more than 50 miles from the campus. Hotel accommodations will be covered for the nights of Sunday, December 5, and Monday, December 6, 2021. Please indicate your hotel reservation preference using the link provided below when you RSVP for this event. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided on Monday 12/6 and Tuesday12/7.
All other travel expenses and incidentals are the responsibility of the attendee.

Note: If all prepaid rooms are booked and depending on hotel availability, you still may reserve a room with either of the hotels listed above at the reduced conference rate. You will be reimbursed for accommodations by submitting a 676-travel form with a receipt to veneziam@erau.edu

On Monday evening, December 6, from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm, there will be a reception at the Mori Hossini Student Center Banquet Hall and you and a guest are invited to attend.
Cocktails and heavy appetizers will be served during the reception.

Make sure to bring your laptop and charger to this event. If applicable, have your ERNIE username and password with you. If you do not know your ERNIE username and/or password, contact the Embry-Riddle IT department at 386-226-6990 or by email at itsupport@erau.edu. Once on campus - WIFI access - EagleNet. You do not need a password.

Get directions to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Our conference is located in the Mori Hosseini Student Center, Building 610, first floor for check-in, orientation and welcome.

Embry-Riddle Campus Map. The hotels offer shuttle service and we strongly suggest that you use this resource as parking is an issue on campus. However, if you must drive, suggested parking (Citation East) is located south of the new student center, building 610 and College of Arts and Sciences, building 415. Also, north of Willie Miller Instructional Center, Building 331, (Armstrong and Falcon lots). Parking Map

Jonathan Westberry is a faculty member at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) - Daytona Beach and Worldwide campus’ where he serves as Assistant Professor / Regional Manager for the Gaetz Aerospace Institute’s (GAI) Aviation Career Academy (ACA) - DB campus, and Adjunct Professor and Course Monitor / Developer for ERAU’s College of Aeronautics’ Worldwide campus serving Unmanned Systems curriculum. He also serves as Adjunct Professor at Everglades University’s Aviation Science Department - Orlando campus. His past education and experience consist of a Master’s of Science in Aeronautics (MSA), where he Dual-Specializing in Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and Aerospace Operations from ERAU Worldwide, and a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities from the University of Central Florida (UCF). He has held Flight Operations Specialist roles in startup environments manufacturing sUAS for public safety, disaster response, and customs and border patrol. Jon is a licensed 14 CFR Part 107 UAS Remote Pilot, an Unmanned Safety Institute Certified Safety Instructor, and is currently pursuing his Advanced Ground Instructor and Private Pilot certificates. His past research efforts include acting as External Communications Lead for the ERAU sUAS Consumer Guide, a reviews-focused data aggregation effort based on key performance indicators of COTS sUAS where he managed test design, operational testing, and outreach initiatives. More recently Jon has coordinated a remote research team liaising their development and research efforts for modeling effective Distributed Online Collaborative Research in the Unmanned Systems field. Professor Westberry has contributed to AUVSI Xponential proposals and led team analysis efforts for the FAA UAS Integration Pilot Program.
